10 Westgate Food to Try When in Singapore

Best Food Places in Westgate to Eat

Westgate mall is a household name for those of you who live or work around Jurong East. The sprawling 410,000 sqft mall offers plenty of things to do whether it’s shopping, eating or even just spending a day out with family and friends.

However, come lunch or dinner time, we’re pretty sure you don’t want to be walking all seven floors of the mall just to find something to eat at Westgate!

Fret not, we have rounded up 10 Westgate food places you can try. Choices here are limitless – You are sure to find Westgate Korean food places as well as Westgate Taiwan food places. However, although this list is not exhaustive, it should help you get started pretty easily – ready to eat your heart out? Let’s go!

1. 328 Katong Laksa

328 Katong Laksa

Chinese | $ | Non-Halal

Famous for whooping Ramsay’s ass in the Hawker Hero challenge, 328 Katong Laksa is a famous name in Singapore, and if you’re at Westgate for food, then why not slurp some of this goodness?

The gravy is thick, rich, flavourful and pretty spicy – sure to run your nose! Portions are quite standard for today’s serving size for what less than $10 can buy you these days. The laksa also comes with shrimp, cockles, fishcake, and tofu, as well as bean sprouts.

Must try dishes: There’s only one other variation of laksa besides their OG that is the shredded chicken laksa. Both are still served with the same broth. You also have an option to add other sides like soft boiled eggs. Never heard of eggs in laksa but I do prefer the shredded chicken version.

Price range : $7.00-$10.00

You will be spoilt for choice as they have 9 soup bases that can go with a selection of over 100 different ingredients. This is not inclusive of snacks, drinks and condiments!

Must try dishes : If we had to settle for one base, I’d go for the pork bone broth. Its very flavourful and goes well with most ingredients. But if you want something out of the box, maybe try their satay soup base?

3. Nasty Cookie

Nasty Cookie

Western | $$$ | Halal/Non-Halal

If you’re just looking for some light snacks to have instead of a big portion of Westgate food, then head to the Nasty Cookies to take away some chunky, sticky, gooey cookies à la NYC cookies!

This Westgate food place can be spotted from far away thanks to their bright teal spots in the mall. If you feel like sitting down, they do have small spaces, so worry not, it’s not limited to takeaway only.

Must try dishes : You cannot go wrong trying their Dark Chocolate Sea Salt. One reviewer says, “Outside’s crunchy while insides are so soft. Not too sweet, which really surprised me!,” and we couldn’t agree more. For those who want to double down on their sweet treat, match your cookie to their milk shakes that are available in 4 different flavours – our favourite is their Original Milkshake!

Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut

Westgate halal food options are still plenty for those of you who are concerned. One such Westgate food place is Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut.

This place offers authentic Indonesian cuisine to hungry Singaporeans and is super famous for their 24 hour marinated duck leg.

Must try dishes : This famed outlet at Westgate has plenty of items on their menu. Their must try dishes however is without a doubt their Ayam Penyet and Bebek Goreng. Oxtail soup is also a crowd pleaser featuring tender meat and a hearty soup base.

5. Jjinja Chicken

Jinjja Chicken

Korean | $ | Halal

If you’re looking for Westgate Korean food or snacks, then go straight to Jjinja Chicken! They serve the perfect fried chicken available in a few sauces. There are also other dishes that you can have besides fried chicken.

Must try dishes: Crowd favourite when it comes to their fried chicken are soy garlic, yangyeom and monster. But if you want something heavier, go for their Rabokki which is the combination of ramyeon and tteokbokki. Oh and did we say that this Westgate place serves halal food?

Miam Miam

French + Japanese | $$ | Non-Halal

French and Japanese? We say why not! There are a few other Westgate Japanese food options but this might be the most creative one you’ll find. The menu is filled with dishes inspired from classic Japanese and French cuisine, made from fresh and sustainable ingredients.

Must try dishes: Their creamy miso squid and squid ink pasta is a hit with many patrons and you’ll know why almost immediately – the umami flavour is almost unbeatable. If you’re craving for something sweet, go for their french toast, another crowd favourite.

Price range : From $10.00

7. Curry Times

Curry Times

Singaporean | $ | Certified Halal

Feeling like having local instead while looking for Westgate food places? Curry Times should be your pick! This is also one of the Westgate halal food places that you can find to enjoy with your Muslim mates. Curry Times is run by Old Chang Kee and IYKYK, the food is definitely a step above the rest.

Must try dishes: Sure you can get Curry Chicken everywhere, but curry chicken here hits different – it’s authentic, just a touch savoury but definitely hearty. You can have it with rice or paratha but I would suggest going with the bread instead. It hits different when you get to soak the bread and have the sweetness of the bread merge with the spice of the curry. Another crowd favourite is their fish curry head, which is much lighter than the chicken curry since they have used evaporated milk instead – if you want something healthier.

Price range: From $8.90

8. Flipper’s

Flipper’s

Western | $$ | Certified Halal

Souffle pancakes for lunch or dinner? Yes please! Flipper is actually one of Westgate’s Japanese food places that offer a full menu for lunch or dinner. However, they are extremely famous for the jiggly souffle pancakes that they serve.

Must try dishes: Go for their Maple Butter Cream Souffle pancake also known as sweet kiseki. It is no doubt quite sweet but also pillowy and creamy. While they also have a range of savoury pancakes like Japanese Curry and Chicken Katsu, I am personally not a big fan of savoury pancakes. But, hey, to each its own right?

Price range: From $15.50

Address 3 Gateway Dr, #01-42, Singapore
Operation Hours 11.00AM – 8.30PM, Sunday to Thursday

10.30AM – 9.00PM, Friday to Saturday

9. Nunsaram Korean Dessert

Nunsaram Korean Dessert

Korean | $$ | Halal (not certified)

If you cannot get enough of dessert then Nunsaram Korean Dessert cannot be skipped. It’s probably the only Westgate Korean food place that serves a large range of Korean desserts.

Must-try dishes: If you want something more authentically Japanese, try their Green Tea Bingsu. This bowl of ice shaved goodness is served with red bean paste, almond shavings as well as a dollop of matcha ice cream. The injeolmi bingsu is also pretty authentic – it’s topped with roasted soybean powder and injeolmi which are korean rice cake bits. The shaved ice itself has a milk flavour.

10. Shake Shack

Shake Shack

Italian | $$ | Halal (not certified)

Tired of all the Korean, Chinese and Japanese Westgate food places? Fret not, head over to Shake Shack for some good ol ‘burger and fries instead!

Must-try dishes: Almost everything is delicious at Shake Shack but if we really had to pick one, we’d say keep it simple and go for their signature ShackBurger. You hear patrons raving about their beef patties because they are made with Angus beef! The burger is served with potato buns too! Even if you skip the burgers, do not skip their shakes – they are one of a kind! Try the Singapore Special Shake which is a vanilla custard drink blended with pandan and coconut, topped with gula melaka crumble.
